Apple Watch Patent Newly Points At Always-On Display Tech Resistant To Burn-In

So, it’s clear and fair that the Cupertino-based company already sent out invites for 2018 iPhone XS reveal on September 12, alongside there are also rumors that the company planning to introduce its next-fourth generation Apple Watch. Ever since Apple released its first smartwatch, everyone has been begging for an always-on display technology and today we seem to have come to see the time without turning on the screen.

Obviously, there are some competitors to Apple Watch which have some sort of always-on feature, allowing the time to be displayed at all times, where Apple’s wearable does not. That means everytime users need to raise their wrist or tap the watch’s screen in order to see something as basic as the time, and that’s been a case since the Apple Watch launched three years ago.

Apple Watch 2 con schermo Always-On?

However, a new patent application leads to speculation of always-on display tech exploring that Apple is indeed looking at a way to rectify that and giving the Apple Watch its very own always-on display.

Up until this point, Apple has somewhat refused to offer any sort of always-on display due to its impact on battery life as well as the potential for screen burn-in, which is something that OLED displays are more susceptible to than other display technologies. Thus, Apple appears to be working on rectifying at least one of those by finding ways to prevent burn-in.

According to the Apple patent, which seems like the company is all too aware of the potential burn-in issues it could eventually run into with an always-on Apple Watch, saying “Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays-which otherwise, are becoming more popular choices for computing device displays-can degrade in a non-uniform manner over their lifespans and lead to unwanted color/brightness artifacts.”

There may be ways around that, according to the company.

To address this concern, burn-in statistics–which record historical usage information associated with a given OLED display–can be used to artificially adjust the operation of the OLED display to substantially restore visual uniformity throughout its operation.

Apple Watch patent application leads to speculation of always-on screen mode

While the second one can be easily solved by switching to a dimmer grayscale mode when not using the watch to preserve battery. There’s a problem and that is intrinsic to OLED panels – the so-called burn-in effect that occurs over time when the same array of pixels is turned on for long periods of time.

Apple’s take on the matter isn’t all about preventing the burn-in from happening, but it’s actually masking it. Usage statistics on the OLED will be gathered around and use them to restore the visual uniformly of the display by artificially adjusting the color balance, customizations of the problematic area. This way users can have the cake and eat it too.

The company also suggests that such statistics could use a high-resolution, multiple-channel image, although that has its own issues including the amount of storage space required for such images. This, however, being a patent, we have to remember that there is no guarantee that any of this will come to fruition. Still, we can hope.

Where the patent also involves a new anti-aliasing technique to smoothen and better fit the content on the curved sides of the screen confirming the bigger and perhaps curvier display of the upcoming Apple Watch Series 4. If the engineers figure out how to tackle the problems above, we could very much see an always-on display feature when it launches side by the trio of iPhones expected at Apple Park’s Gather Round keynote event.

Apple’s 2018 6.5-inch OLED Flagship Name Declared As iPhone Xs Max, LCD Model Price Match

In just a week or so Apple will announce its 2018 iPhones lineup, where two of which will have OLED display, successors to iPhone X this year – an upgraded 5.8-inch model, said to be called the iPhone XS, and a larger 6.5-inch version that is reportedly going to be called the “iPhone Xs Max,” according to multiple sources.

One of the releases of the new iPhone will include an LCD model, making it a trio of iPhones releasing in 2018, set to kick into gear this year and as we trundle closer to the September 12th announcement we’ve seen more and more information pop up online.

New 6.5-inch iPhone X model reportedly called the ‘iPhone XS Max’

The website last week was able to get its hands on an image showing the iPhone X successor and its larger cousin has now reported that it knows what the larger of the two devices will be called. The second larger 6.5-inch variant is named iPhone Xs Max, it was wondered whether the bigger screen size model would be called the same thing with buyers simply choosing a screen size at purchase.

There were also rumors speaking about the Plus moniker from previous years which would continue, but according to a new report, the new, largest ever iPhone will be called the iPhone Xs Max.

How? As per the publication claims that the new naming convention has been confirmed by “two sources familiar with Apple’s marketing plans” although obviously does not go so far as to confirm who they are.

So, it’s very much difficult to know whether this report without knowing the sources, but as the sources appear confident enough to publish the name we suspect it has little doubt that the publication could be wrong. Quite why Apple would ditch the Plus name in favor of Max is unclear, however.

In addition to the new moniker and large size, the iPhone Xs Max is expected to offer even bigger battery than the smaller XS. Both phones will also reportedly see an internal storage and spec boost over the current iPhone X, with a new A12 processor and 4GB of RAM.

iPhone Xs Max Is The Name Of Apple’s 2018 6.5-Inch OLED Flagship

We’ll find out for sure when Apple officially announces things at its event next week. For your sake, the company is set to introduce three new iPhones this month with the iPhone Xs and now iPhone Xs Max named. The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is likely to be called the iPhone 9, or iPhone Xs Plus, a name that will help differentiate it from the more costly, OLED models also available.

Why not iPhone 9? It’s because Apple already eliminated the 9 number from its list, so announced iPhone X (10) in the past year. And it’s only my opinion and not official. Stay tuned for more!

iOS 12 Jailbreak Read And Write Privilege Achieved On iPhone X

$

First and foremost a new iOS 12 jailbreak security exploit has already been discovered with read and write privilege being achieved on it and explored on iPhone X without a computer. Here’s what we know about it so far has been detailed.

This article shows you how to successfully jailbreak iOS 12 and how easy to restore iOS 12 from if you encounter any stuck issues. Starting with a security researcher by the name of Simone Ferrini who has taken to Twitter to confirm that he and his teammates have managed to pwn iOS 12 beta 12. This is the last and the latest beta release by Apple before the Golden Master seed of iOS 12.

In fact, that tweet also qualified that the team behind this has managed to achieve “Kernal Memory R/W” with the work that has been undertaken. All of this means it’s important to keep in mind that this is not fully loaded or final jailbreak solution for iOS 12 platform. However, it is a very important component of what could potentially be a public jailbreak.

It has been tagged in two additional developers and security researchers as being part of the process. Both, presumably work for the same – or are affiliated with – the same TRUE IT company that is tagged in Ferrini’s Twitter biography. Although we have a video attached to the tweet that is designed to show off the work that has been undertaken and shows an iPhone connected to a terminal session and confirming that the team has achieved exactly what is claiming.

In this case, it’s worth taking it with a pinch of salt until something literal and legitimate to the community comes from it. Security researchers who are part and publicly affiliated with a company are more often than not performing the work and showing it off as part of a bigger picture.

It was already a case when some development team from the jailbreak community showed off iPhone X iOS 12 jailbreak in a video when the Apple’s iOS 12 platform in the beta seed. This comes as part of an official bug bounty program to earn the company money or to simply show off the capabilities of the individuals who work at the business.

It’s rare that these sort of bugs and vulnerabilities actually turn into a public jailbreak, sometimes, but takes also time to achieve. At least by the hands of the individuals who found them, such as Pangu, Electra and so on.

If this turns into anything additional we will be sure to upload it with immediate effect right here at the techgiri.com.

Here’s The New Cydia Replacement App ‘Sileo’ In More Detailed Screenshots

A set of additional screenshots depicting the innovative Selio Cydia replacement has been shared via Twitter. Just after revealing the facts about the iOS 12 jailbreak security exploit discovered with read and write privileges, this news comes to the scene.

The dedicated @GetSelio Twitter account, which was almost silent for weeks, has today popped up once again with a selection of attachments showing off what is presumably the finalized Sileo UI.

Fortunately, the latest content which is soon-to-be-released as Cydia replacer to be shared by the Selio account reveals a number of important factors of the Selio experience.

The first image shows us the look of a dedicated package page, name, and developer of the package as well as some screenshots of the installation process as well as a small snippet of information about the product.

Highlights

The Selio account also shared a screenshot of the Search functionality and UI in action, also showing a screen of all the installed repositories and added sources side-by-side. Finally, the third and final screenshot shows an individual package being queued up for installation.

One thing we all must note is that Selio isn’t a far away removed from the Cydia package that it is looking to replace on all devices jailbroken using the Electra jailbreak. But it’s evident that the developers behind it have tried to stay very close to the original Cydia package and interface in terms of design whilst giving the experience a lick of paint and making the users interface and also the experience fresh and modern.

Selio, for instance, hasn’t designed and put in place because Cydia is not fit for purpose, but more down to the fact that it’s no longer supported as quick as it once was. This is the only reason the developers reinvent Selio to put in place with usability and has a familiar UI and UX.

There would be no clue till now whether it’s extremely good and positive to see progress being made but jailbroken device owners will definitely want to know “when” Sileo is going to arrive. The release timescales are more important than seeing flat screenshots of an app that is yet to actually see the light of day. However, the tweet accompanied with text specifies that the new package is “coming soon” so let’s hope the development team puts effort and some additional context on that release sooner rather than later.

iOS 12 Siri Shortcuts Not Supported On iPhone 6, 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, Reason Why

$

There are a variety of ways on how to add your own iOS 12 Siri Shortcuts and Xcode 10 on your iPhone or iPad right now. But the fact today we received is that the new Siri Shortcuts feature appeared in iOS 12 is said to not be supported on some of the iPhone models. Here are the details.

It is very clear that Apple ships iOS 12 to the public later this month, a couple of days from now. And one of the features that is sure to be popular among those innovative tweaks will be Siri Shortcuts. This is a feature that will allow iOS to monitor what users do and then recommend shortcuts, often complicated ones with multiple steps, and thus saving them time, too.

First of all, Siri Shortcuts was thought to be part of iOS 12 that would eventually be available to anyone who can install the update, However, that now appears not to be the case anymore, with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users out of luck.

The reason is explained in this news report that comes after a Redditor emailed SVP of Software Engineering at Apple, Craig Federighi, about the feature. The highlight of this report is the response that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are just not as powerful enough to handle the AI smarts required to make Siri Shortcuts work. While the same goes for the iPhone 5s, but not mentioned, meaning iPhone SE supports iOS 12 Siri Shortcuts feature.

Given the fact it too supports iOS 12 but is even older (iPhone 5s) than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, we expect that phone to also be out in the cold.

Although Siri Shortcuts are part of the new Shortcuts app that is based on the Workflow app that Apple bought last year. This same Shortcuts app will not ship as part of iOS 12 itself but will rather be an app downloadable via the App Store and those testing the software during the iOS 12 beta program have had to download it via Testflight, just like third-party iOS apps and iOS games.

Presumably, Apple will launch iOS 12 and Shortcuts alongside, shortly before the 2018 iPhones go on sale, likely in the third week of September.

OnePlus 6T Confirmed With In-Display Fingerprint Scanner, Arrives Soon

We already have Vivo V11 Pro with the similar technology, and today we have a confirmation about OnePlus 6T to come with In-Display fingerprint scanner. Now that Apple is rumored on getting the same technology ready in time for use on the handset, too.

However, just before the iPhone X launched last year, there were predictions regarding in-display fingerprint scanner, but it never happened, although Apple instead went with Face ID on the iPhone X. But Android OEMs have been in that race to preset their phones with an in-display fingerprint scanner. And they did and the newly released, ready to pre-order Vivo V11 Pro is here.

OnePlus 6T In-Display Fingerprint Scanner Confirmed

OnePlus is another company planning to introduce the same tech onto their phones and indeed set for OnePlus 6T. Oppo is another company which is Android OEM launch phones with In-display fingerprint scanner, and now OnePlus joining the bandwagon.

The company named OnePlus has already confirmed its word to Cnet that its next upcoming smartphone (aka OnePlus 6T) will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. Here’s the blog post and comments on that topic.

“We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action,” said OnePlus in an email to CNET. “By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them.”

What are the uses of an in-display fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 6T?

Highlights

First of all, this will make it thicker by 0.45mm when compared to the OnePlus 6. Both on the plus side, the back of the phone will definitely have a unibody look as it lacks any cutout for a fingerprint scanner.

Second, OnePlus offering face unlock on its smartphones which is blazing fast, although the inclusion of an in-display fingerprint scanner will be slightly less useful especially since it is not going to be as faster as the traditional scanner or even face unlock. Rather it can be expensive enough. It will surely help in upping the cool quotient of the device which is always a welcome feature among consumers.

What’s interesting to see is how Android OEMs are offering both fingerprint scanner – in-display or otherwise, and face unlock on their devices, whereas Apple is going all in with Face ID on its 2018 iPhones and iPad Pro lineup.

Check this out:

This Is How In-Display Fingerprint Sensors Actually Work

Notably, there is time for that to discuss, and ready to witness the launch of iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone Xr on September 12 as Apple Park will showcase all their innovative products to compete with the rivals around the world. While OnePlus will take its time to announce its new OnePlus 6T smartphone with in-display fingerprint scanner later next month or so. Stay tuned for more.

Apple Announces Redesigned Watch Series 4 With 30 Percent Larger Display, Thinner Body, 64-Bit Chip, ECG Capability, More

$

0

During the ‘Gather Round’ 2018 iPhones Keynote event, Apple Watch Series 4 appeared up to be the first introduction. Here are the details about it.

Apple has firstly confirmed that Apple Watch Series 4 is a reality, and when talking about its features, release date, and perhaps most importantly, price, we have everything on the shelves.

Apple Watch Series 4 Highlights

Features and specifications wise, the latest generation of the wrist-worn wearable (aka Apple Watch Series 4) come with a bigger casing and an edge-to-edge display, which gives users approximately 15% more screen real estate, coupled with larger sizes at 40mm and 44mm. The extra screen real estate has been achieved by reducing the bezels around the display. Slight visual modifications to the design also made but largely it remains untouched aesthetically.

Apart from the rumors and leaked information in the past, the Apple Watch Series 4 also features – All New S4 chipset.

The display edges are also rounded to match the rounded edges of the chassis and cover glass. Despite the bigger display and casing, the new Watch Series 4 is slimmer than its predecessor.

The new Apple Watch S4 packs a dual-core 64-bit CPU, and a new more powerful GPU which brings the watch’s performance an increase of two folds – New Digital Crown, for instance.

The new Digital Crown now offers haptic feedback. There’s the Next-gen Accelerometer & Gyroscope, too. These two revamped units now pack twice the dynamic range and can measure up to 32 g-forces. Not just that, the Series 4 now has 8x faster sampling.

Impressive!

The Dynamic Watchfaces. Yes, there are new watch faces which interact with the display, like fire, water, vapor etc. The new watch faces are capable of showing more information. There’s still the dedicated Breathe app which is getting its own watch face in Apple Watch Series 4. Third-party apps can also take advantage of the bigger screen to display more information.

Fall Detection

You will find the aforementioned feature on the Series 4 Apple Watch that can now detect if the user has taken a fall (literally, only), and immediately brings up an emergency contact pop-up. If you don’t interact with the watch at that period, it will automatically place a call to emergency services. Quite sweet if you ask me!

Irregular / Low / Heartbeat Detection + ECG

The new electrical heart rate sensor technology inside the Series 4 allows for three different types of heart-rate notifications; low heart rate, atrial fibrillation, and Electrocardiogram (ECG). You will be notified of any irregular heartbeats the watch may detect. Again this is something that many people are not aware of by themselves and requires urgent attention.

ECG is a feature that will require users to keep their finger on Digital Crown while talking an ECG reading. Apple has added electrodes for the first time which lets you take an ECG along with the new crown which creates an electrocardiogram. All of this in 30, amazing, seconds, that too, this data is stored in the Health app on the connected iPhone.

The Apple Watch Series 4 offers an ‘all-day battery life.’ The GPS tracking battery life has actually improved to 6 hours now.

The Apple Watch Series 4 release date, price, and availability in Silver, Space Gray, and Gold for the aluminum case, with the Stainless steel case coming in Polish, Gold Stainless, and Space Black.

Apple Watch Series 4 Price

Pricing on the Apple Watch Series 4 starts at $399 for non-LTE aluminum 40mm Sports models and go up as high as $1,199 for the higher-end LTE 44mm Steel version. All models and prices below:

  • 40mm: Starting at $399 | $499 for GPS+Cellular
  • 44mm: Starting at $429 | $529 for GPS+Cellular

Release Date

Apple Watch Series 4 will be available for pre-order from September 14, with the device hitting the retail stores on September 21. Nike+ and Hermes version is also available, along with new bands with new materials and colors.

Apple Announces iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr: Specs, Price, Release Date, More Highlights

$
0
0

It’s now official. Apple has announced the existence of iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR at its September 12 “Gather Round” event in California.

Just after introducing the redesigned Apple Watch Series 4 wearable, the company took the stage to wraps off all the three 2018 iPhone models, also detailing about its specifications, the price of each model, and expected release date for the wholesome hardware. So without any ado, let’s dive right into the apex.

iPhone XS / XS Max / XR Highlights

About iPhone SX, XS Max, XR, we have something to speak on the second-generation iPhone X handset. And the low-cost LCD model named iPhone XR.

First and foremost, Apple’s iPhone XS is an essential hardware that comes with the same 5.8-inch OLED display. The iPhone XS Max is very similar but it’s essentially a “Plus” version of iPhone XS complete with a stunning 6.5-inch OLED panel. Both devices come with a surgical-grade stainless steel frame and offer the same premium look and feel that the company introduced with iPhone X last year.

The glass on the iPhone XS / XS Max, according to Apple, is the strongest ever on the iPhone history. To be honest, there’s IP68 water resistance (not waterproof) on offer here, and a new Gold color in addition to Silver and Space Gray.

The LCD iPhone XR Features

The device that sits in the middle of the two in terms of screen size and well, colorful new options! We can buy it in: White, Black, Blue, Coral, Yellow, and (PRODUCT)RED.

With the old-school 6.1-inch LCD display, Apple’s calling, ‘Liquid Retina’ at a resolution of 1792 x 828, it does away with the OLED panel. Like iPhone X, the iPhone XR ships with the first-generation TrueDepth camera system in order to facilitate the Face ID functionality that made iPhone X so popular but does not have a dual-lens rear camera system or 3D Touch functionality baked into the display.

While the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max on the other hand feature a second-gen TrueDepth module for improved Face ID, as well as 3D Touch and dual-lens camera system.

All three devices have stunning edge-to-edge displays with almost no bezels around, and a stainless steel frame on the iPhone XS / XS Max, and an aluminum frame on the iPhone XR.

Camera Solution

Both the iPhone XS / XS Max pack a dual-rear camera setup, but there are some major improvements over the iPhone X. We now have a 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle lens + new sensors, along with the 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens. On the front for selfie shots, we have a 7MP f/2.2 RGB camera with a faster sensor, coupled with the IR camera and Dot projector.

It also has a Portrait Mode, but with the inclusion of Neural Engine into image processing, Apple claims that the iPhone XS / XS Max will process the photos faster and more accurately.

Continuing with the HDR, you will not find this feature on iPhone XS / XS Max, which has been completely removed, but rather upgraded to being a more “Smart HDR.” For now, you can aw at the ability to adjust depth-of-field, after having taken a photo. Apple’s calling it ‘Depth Control’.

As for the iPhone XR, the TrueDepth camera remains the same, but the rear only contains single lens of 12MP wide-angle – the same planted into the iPhone XS / XS Max offering all the goodies packed into the OLED-based smartphones, such as Smart HDR, Portrait Lighting, but sadly no Depth Control.

Specifications

In order to see which one suits your requirements, both now and in the next 12-18 months, you have probably been watching Apple’s event with great interest and heard all about the new devices announced for the release in coming weeks.

Screen-size and Comparisons

Display on both OLED models; 5.8-inch for iPhone XS and 6.5-inch for the iPhone XS Max comes with a resolution of 2436×1125 on the XS and 2688×1242 on the XS Max. The Display now boasts a 60% greater dynamic range compared to last year’s iPhone X.

The XS Max gains a slight advantage in sound over its smaller sibling, and that’s a wider stereo sound. While the iPhone XS / XS Max, as well as the iPhone XR, can record stereo sounds, literally.

Yes, the newer iPhone, a faster and more secure biometric experience. Not only is Face ID faster on the iPhone XS / XS Max, but the Secure Enclave is now, well, even more, secure enough.

The iPhone XR surprisingly also including Apple’s new A12 Bionic processor and improved LTE chips to promote a faster LTE connection. The A12 chip is the first 7nm unit which boasts a 15% increase in performance over the A111, with the A12 GOU gaming an increase of over 50% over the A11’s GPU.

An iPhone, for the first time, is going into availability charts with a smacking 512GB storage option. This storage option is available on both the iPhone XS / XS Max, but not the iPhone XR.

Battery Optimization

On the battery front, you should expect a battery life of around 30 minutes more than the iPhone X with the iPhone XS, or 90 minutes more with the iPhone XS Max over the iPhone X.

Dual-SIM is finally here. As Apple adds support for the setup on all three of its newest phones, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and even the LCD variant of iPhone XR. That said, with one physical SIM and one e-SIM support, not many are bound to be pleased with this decision. Chinese users, however, will be able to actually use two physical SIMs with the new phones.

The fact that the price is rated for its features, which started at $999.00 for Apple’s iPhone X last year, the attached price-tag is one of the most important factors of any Apple product release. For Apple’s 2018 iPhone range, the associated prices can be found below.

iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR Price

  • iPhone XR – 64GB, 128GB, 256GB: Starts at $749
  • iPhone XS – 64GB, 256GB, 512GB: Starts at $999
  • iPhone XS Max- 64GB, 256GB, 512GB: Starts at $1,099

Release Date

Apple has announced that pre-orders for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will begin this coming Friday, September 14. Devices will start to ship and land in consumers hands a week later on Friday, September 21. For those who are very much interested in the cheaper iPhone XR complete with LCD panel, pre-orders will begin on October 19th.

From a ranking perspective, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are the two flagship iOS devices for 2018. The second-generation models to iPhone X come with the highest specifications, and of course, the highest expensive price-tags out of the 3 models, including iPhone Xr.

Both of those models are equipped with a stunning OLED panel which offers brightness and power efficiencies over not just the LCD model. The displays sit within the stunning surgical-grade stainless steel frame in an edge-to-edge situation. iPhone XS offers a 5.8-inch display and the larger 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max offers the similar panel without bezels.

The two newly announced iPhone XS / XS Max have Apple’s latest A12 Bionic processor with faster LTE chips and offers with TrueDepth camera functionality and access to the company’s leading Face ID functionality.

If the price is literally your main purchasing factor, the iPhone XR offers the performance and reliability of the other two releases but without the high-end bells which we will compare it with the other two OLED screened iPhone XS and XS Max later.

While the two models also offered in more colors and have Dual-SIM functionality as well in some markets, such as India and China.

Apple Discontinues iPhone X, SE And 6s, Here’s Why?

Just after Apple made an announcement of three new iPhones during the keynote event, including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, the company also stated that they are now way selling the iPhone X, iPhone SE, and the iPhone 6s.

It’s now official, Apple has discontinued the 2017 iPhone X with the introduction of its three new phones. Also removed the iPhone 6s and SE from Apple’s website as well, making the end of iPhones with headphone jacks.

With the iPhone XS starting at a price of $999, and the addition of the cheaper $749 iPhone XR announced, the iPhone X has, fortunately, become redundant. Despite rumors of low sales since its launch, Apple earnings show that the iPhone X actually sold quite well.

Although it makes sense for Apple to remove the iPhone X from the lineup. Still, Apple can make its revenue with the new iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR. Though the iPhone SE, X, and 6s have all been removed from the US market, it doesn’t rule out the sale of these older devices in developing markets like India.

“Apple announced three new iPhones today, including the cheaper iPhone XR, making the iPhone X obsolete. The iPhone 6s and SE have been removed from the Apple website as well.”

Now that the iPhone XS and XS Max are too much expensive, because of its hardware internals and elements used to grab the attention diverting customers upgrade to iPhone XS / XS Max, and XR. There’s no good reason to shell out for the more expensive iPhone X, except maybe the exclusivity of owning a phone that was ushered in with the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone.

iPhone X was the first and foremost device to introduce the now-ubiquitous notch that’s influenced the entire mobile industry with a wave of copycat designs, and the first iPhone with Face ID. Yes, it introduced intuitive gesture controls and with the phone came wireless charging, plus AirPods.

About the iPhone 6s and SE discontinued because of the only reason that they aren’t capable of A12 CPU power and performance. It’s time to decide whether you go reverse phone backup or upgrade with Find My iPhone feature enabled.

iPhone XS, XS Max, XR eSIM Dual-SIM Compatibility In Countries Listed Here

$

0

Yes, Apple’s new iPhones use eSIM technology, but it’s not supported in all of the countries where it sells iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the cheaper iPhone XR, but only 10 of them in the world support it. Here are the details on it.

Although the inclusion of eSIM support in the iPhone XS / XS Max and iPhone XR is a great way for people to able to take advantage of dual-SIM options without having to have two physical SIMs installed. And of course, it’s indeed a better idea to dominate the copycat designs of the iPhone which comes directly from China.

But again, that could make the switching of carriers even easier than before, and if nothing else it means that we won’t need to go looking for something to poke into the SIM tray every time we travel and need to switch card.

However, Apple finally introduced the dual-SIM option in its three new iPhones this time, which is not all great news though, because while eSIM support is on the rise, there are currently just ten carriers on the barrier that support it, globally.

Especially, for users outside China, however, the new iPhone devices will support eSIM. While there are many benefits to eSIM, though the nascent technology hasn’t been wide adoption yet. As of the time of writing the handful of carriers is still small with those countries that do have a carrier with support often only having the one, including countries like the UK and Spain.

The full list of countries offers eSIM support right now are Austria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, India, Spain, the UK, and the US.

Sprint and smaller carriers in the United States don’t offer eSIM support as of yet, meaning that customers will need to switch over to T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T in order to enjoy that feature. That said, Sprint also says that it will support eSIM eventually but didn’t give a specific timeframe.

Those with keen eyes will have noticed that Apple’s two flagship iPhones now offer support for eSIMs will hopefully ensure that more carriers will also jump on board, pretty soon.

In China, Apple’s special, dual-SIM card trays will bypass the need for eSIM compatibility, which China has very little of anyway. Both major carriers, China Telecom, and China Mobile have introduced eSIM support in a couple of cities, excluding Beijing.

Instead, the three new iPhones will have two physical SIM cards, like many Android phones do in China already, the feature will be immediately available, whereas the rest of the entire planet, users will need to wait for Apple to send out its eSIM software update on iOS 12 final later this fall.

What exactly eSIM means? Electronic SIM cards eliminate the need to poke a pin through your SIM tray to swap out a physical tiny piece of plastic. eSIMs, which actually stands for embedded SIM cards, only need a compatible network or carrier to offer support. Both the XS and XS Max flagship iOS devices will have a physical nano-SIM card slot for the second SIM support.

According to iOS developer Stever Troughton Smith, who suggests this:

Putting eSIM in every iPhone is gonna put a lot of pressure on carriers around the world to support it, which will be great for Apple Watch and any future devices Apple wants to connect to a cellular network… perhaps an AR headset?

This move from Apple is likely going to create a lot of pressures on carriers around the world to support the eSIM tech. And this is one example of where it will hope to be able to do exactly that by Apple and its pride.

However, we have the perfect and official unveil date, just after announcing the date, Google has also started teasing the 2018 Pixel flagships with just number ‘3’. Now that another promo page has disclosed Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL color options. While the teaser appeared on Google’s withgoogle.com source, features a “coming soon” text.

Usually the two-tone black and white colors, additionally Google is planning to release a mint color version for both the two flagships this year. That’s exactly how the white version showing a mint color border lines up with previous leaks, although it shows a mint colored power button like the orange button we have seen on last year’s Pixel 2 XL.

The new teaser also details the color blocks for the top portion of the phone representing the two-tone look that we are accompanied to in the Pixel lineup.

Rumors regarding the Pixel 3 says that the smartphone will have no-notch on top of 5.5-inch 18:9 aspect ratio display, dual front speaker, glass + metal back, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 845 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, Dual 8.1MP front cameras with f/1.8 and f/2.2 aperture – one for IR face unlock and has a built-in 2915mAh battery.

On the second phase, the Pixel 3 XL to have a 6.2-inch 19:9 aspect ratio screen with a notch, while other specifications are expected to be similar to the Pixel 3 highlights. But again, the bigger version of Pixel 3 will have a slightly bigger 3430mAh battery with support for wireless charging.

How To Downgrade iOS 12 To iOS 11.4.1 Final Version On iPhone Or iPad [Tutorial]

$
0
0

Here’s how you can downgrade iOS 12 final version to iOS 11.4.1 manually on your compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch hardware the right way.

Starting today, official iOS 12 IPSW files and OTA update has been pushed into the wild. In order to try the latest version of iOS and discover new features that have been added. However, there is also plenty of scope for someone who might update their iPhone or iPad to iOS 12. If they are unable to install iOS 12 and automatically updated their device to iOS 12, then they also want to reverse the solution.

That’s because of the reason related to jailbreaking, an app that refuses to behave or simply a preference for something being the way it used to be. Whatever reason it could be, downgrading is often the only solution, and it’s eminently doable, at least for now.

While Apple still signing iOS 11.4.1 there is time to get the downgrade carried out. If you’re in need of a better method for removing iOS 12 completely and restoring iOS 11.4.1, here’s what you need in order to get started

With iOS 12 installed, you can follow the steps below to downgrade to iOS 11.4.1:

  • A functioning PC or Mac with the latest version of iTunes installed.
  • The iOS 11.4.1 IPSW file for your specific device, which can be downloaded from here.
  • An understanding that you can only downgrade as far back as iOS 11.4.1 from iOS 12 as Apple is no longer signing any additional firmware.

Step 1: First thing you should do before you can go through the downgrade process is, you’ll need to be on the latest version of iTunes. For that record, that’s going to be Apple’s latest version with support for the released iOS 12. If you haven’t downloaded it as yet, then go and grab it right now!

Step 2: You are also going to need to have a relevant iOS 11.4.1 IPSW file in your space. You can download the right iOS 11.4 IPSW file for your specific device right immediately from here.

Step 3: Disable Find My iPhone on your device from Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone. This is vital.

Step 3: Launch iTunes and put your device into DFU or Recovery Mode by following the instructions given below.  On your Mac or PC, open iTunes and connect your iOS device. You will need to put your device into DFU mode which can be done by following these guides.

On iPhone 7 Or iPhone 7 Plus, Here’s How

Enter DFU mode by powering down your devices as you normally would by pressing and holding the power/lock button until the slide to power off prompt appears. Slide it to turn off. Once completely turned it off, press and hold the power/lock button on the right side for about 3 seconds. With the power/lock button still pressed, press and hold the volume down button on the other side of the iPhone 7/7 Plus. Keep holding both buttons down together for approximately 10 seconds.

After 10 seconds, release the power/lock button, but make sure that you continue to keep the volume down button held down for another 5 seconds. You will see Apple Logo on the screen, or if you see the iTunes logo with Lightning cable appear on screen, then you have held the volume down button down for too long. In either instance, you will have to re-start the process again.

If you nail the timings, the display will remain all black, confirming that the device has entered into DFU mode successfully. iTunes will also confirm the same if you’re connected to that via PC or Mac.

DFU Mode On iPhone X / 8: Here’s How To Enter It

Press and hold the Side button on the device for three seconds. You should get the Apple bootup screen. With the Side button still held down press the Volume Down button and hold both buttons for a period of ten seconds. The image below shows exactly how!

The bootup screen should disappear once the system has detected that these buttons are pressed for a specific period of time. After that timing, release the Side button but continue to press the Volume Down button for an additional five seconds. iTunes should pop up an alert informing that it has found a device in Recovery mode. The iPhone 8’s screen should be entirely black at this stage.
