Available to developers now and the first beta of iOS 12.1 is ready for testing who’re brave enough to install it onto a device. iOS 12.1 beta 1 brings with it the usual under-the-hood features that most people will not notice. With some bug fixes and brings with it the biggest addition which has been part of iOS 12 – Group Facetime with support for up to 32 people.

Note: It was announced originally as part of iOS 12 during WWDC earlier in 2018, Group FaceTime’s added support for 32 people in early beta releases of iOS 12 but was removed unfortunately for reasons unknown.

Now, Apple has tipped that the removal of a headline feature saying, it would come in future update. It looks like iOS 12.1 is the update that feature will finally make its arrival for the public at large.

Also included in iOS 12.1 is eSIM Dual-SIM support for iPhone XS, XS Max and eventually iPhone XR.

On iOS 12.1 betas, as they come and go ahead of its public release, we at TG will check and tell you the latest and rest assured we’ll be telling you should Apple decide that Group FaceTime for 32 people should do another disappearing act.

As far as the updates continue to flow even outside of the big annual update cycle that we have become accustomed to.

iOS 12.1 beta 1 can be downloaded as an IPSW link from developer.apple.com or from OTA update from Settings > General > Software Update section of the device, if you have already have installed a configuration profile set up.

Anyone who is registered as a developer can grab the new iOS 12.1 beta 1 update via Apple Developer Center.

We don’t know when iOS 12.1 will be made available to the general public or indeed how many beta releases we can expect to see before that happens. Fow now, we only have the features list and the release notes details alongside changes and everything you need to know.

Update x1: The latest eSIM dual-SIM support on iPhone XS and X Max will be available later this year. We actually do not have confirmation yet, but it’s likely that iOS 12.1 will enable this feature at some point during the beta cycle before the eventual release.

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 Plus Line Could Include 5G, As Leaked Code Suggests

Code first discovered hidden in an upcoming Galaxy S9 Plus update suggesting that Samsung, the South Korean firm is planning to release a 5G variant of the Galaxy S10 next year. As reports surfaced and claimed by the source XDA-Developers echoing previous rumors on Samsung’s upcoming connectivity in one variant of its 2019 flagship handset.

Fortunately, there would be four new models of the next-generation phones that seem to be in production. The code today uploaded refers to them as “beyond 0” (expected to be an entry-level model), “beyond 1” (the standard S10), “beyond 2” (likely be the S10 Plus), and finally, “beyond 2 5G” where “beyond” is the rumored codename for the S10 lineup.

In fact, at the beginning of 2018, Samsung successfully revealed some of the manufacturers of Galaxy lineup for this year. Similarly, it did, and the codenames also include “q” variants running Qualcomm Snapdragon chips refers to as opposed to Samsung’s own Exynos chipset, says XDA.

All that means, there should be both a Qualcomm and an Exynos version of the 5G S10 coming, although it’s likely to be the Qualcomm model that makes its way to the US.

According to Samsung’s release schedule appears to mirror the state 5G will be in by mid-2019 when the S10 is expected to be released. Each of the majority of operators aiming to have launched 5G services in some form by the end of 2019, for example, HMD Global model Nokia 9. They are unlikely to offer exhaustive coverage, and the actual utility of a 5G handset is likely to be low.

While Samsung is rumored to be planning to produce 5G versions of the S10 in more limited quantities, according to The Bell.

If Samsung does so, then S10 to be the first 5G handset, and this latest news suggests that’s because another handset might beat it to the punch rather than because the technology won’t be ready in time for its next flagships.

How To Send WhatsApp Message Without Saving Contact Using iOS 12 Siri Shortcuts

Obviously, you might be a big WhatsApp fan, and its instant messaging service in certain parts of the world. Although it does have one minor issue in the fact that you cannot decline, or normally send messages to phone numbers without them first being added to your contacts.

Well, that can be a real pain if you just need to send messages quickly to someone you’re selling something to, or even looking to buy their products. Otherwise it could be painful when leaving your contacts full of random people. Thankfully, this all can now be avoided following a relatively simple trick (Shortcut).

What to do?

In order to use it, you’ll need to be using iOS 12 and have downloaded the Shortcuts app. There are different ways to grab the Shortcuts app, you can do so, download Shortcuts via iCloud, too.

Once that’s done, you’ll now have a new Shortcuts that can be run whenever you want. So, the Shortcut will check your clipboard to see if a phone number exists whenever you do. If it does, the Shortcut will use that as the recipient’s number but if no number is found, it will prompt you to enter one.

Once it’s done, the Shortcut will create a new WhatsApp message with that number as the recipient. Super simple, and slick.

By default, the Shortcut has the country code set to 65, so remember to change that to your local code when you download it but beyond that, there’s no input from you needed in order to get this up and running.

This could be a great example of one to see what Shortcuts people come up with and that doesn’t need to be super complicated in order to do something awesome.

Try it out and give your compliment to Apple for giving a better opportunity to using Shortcuts app in iOS 12.

Face ID On iPhone XS Fooled By Identical Twins [Demo Video]

$

In this story we are discussing about Identical twins appear to successfully fool Face ID on the iPhone XS and XS Max. This begins with when Apple debuted Face ID with the release of iPhone X last year, it claimed it was more secure than Touch ID. However, this might be true, but the biggest issues with Face ID are that it is slower than Touch ID and despite being more secure, it could be easily bypassed by one’s identical twin brother or sister.

In 2018 iPhone XS series, Apple has only made claims of Face ID being faster than ever and said, it is still more secure than Touch ID. But as tests conducted by twin brothers running the LifeofTwinz YouTube channel show, Face ID on the iPhone XS still unlocks if one identical brother registers their face and another tries to unlock the phone.

In fact, Face ID has also been fooled while one identical twin tried opening the iPhone XS Max with a beard. So, in this case we have made little to no impact as Face ID still unlocked the device. And coming to the conclusion that the identical twins wore a hat and then tried to open the same XS Max in the third test, too. They were able to do the same successfully.

To Apple and Face ID’s credit though, the Cupertino-based company said last year that identical twins might be able to bypass Face ID. Plus, the identical twins in this video proves it, and do look identical so Face ID getting confused between them should be forgiven.

How was your experience with Face ID on iPhone XS or XS Max? What are the areas you think Apple can further improve?

Introduced the Panasonic Lumix S series as the latest contender by Imaging boss Yosuke Yamane at Photokina 2018 event. The newer version of the upgrade has been announced in the rapidly crowding full-frame mirrorless camera race.

The new series of Panasonic’s Lumix S cameras wll offer image stabilization in both the camera body and the lenses, have higher shutter speeds and highest flash-synchronization speeds, also offers 4K video at 60fps. There’s an electronic view finder that will be the highest resolution and precision in the industry.

At the keynote we are told, coming “closer to human vision.” Now, you’ll have noticed that none of these claims are backed by specific numbers yet, but again, that’s the nature of an announcement as early as this. While the event also been taking place in the fall 2018 whereas the first glimpse of these cameras. The latest Lumix S cameras has 47-megapixel Lumix S1R and the 24MP S1, which won’t be out for selling until the spring of 2019.

There’s hype in purchasing Panasonic’s Lumix Micro Four Thirds cameras, where they are most popular choices among prosumer and semi-pro videographers, and the new Lumix S series will try to extend that pedigree with it offering of 4K video recording at up to 60 frames-per-second and dual image stabilization.

Panasonic also promises extreme durability, with weather sealing on all seams, dials, and buttons. A Lumix S camera has already been down to the South Pole, where it has “functioned perfectly” at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius.

Any new camera system will have the challenge of establishing a lens ecosystem, which is where Panasonic’s newly announced L-Mount Alliance with Leica and Sigma comes in. In fact, the Lumix S series will adopt Leica’s L-Mount, meaning these cameras will have compatibility with eight high-quality lenses from Leica right from the start, along with three from Panasonic’s Lumix division.

Panasonic will start the Lumix S off with a 500mm f/1.4 prime, a 24-105mm zoom lens, and a 70-200mm telephoto zoom. Sigma will also contribute lenses through 2019, and Panasonic promises that it will have a total of at least 10 compatible lenses within a year of the Lumix S cameras’ release.

Although given the super high specs and abundance of professional features, we can expect the cost for the new Panasonic’s Lumix S camera series to be in the thousands of dollars.

Surprise: iPhone XS On iOS 12 Jailbroken Already Exclusively By Pangu Team

Apple’s iPhone XS and XS Max both have been officially available in the public domain already. The new hardware has thus been jailbroken by none other than the Pangu Team. It was fast enough, according to Min Zheng of the Alibaba security team report.

Taken to Twitter, it looks like Zheng has taken the opportunity to announce that members of the Pangu Team have already managed to jailbreak iPhone XS running iOS 12. While the tweet discloses that, the team behind it has managed to do this by bypassing PAC mitigation on the brand new A12 Bionic chip – ships with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Additionally, Zheng has also shared an attached screenshot which shows root access on Apple’s iPhone XS hardware, essentially confirming the successful jailbreak of the device.

iOS 12 Jailbreak on iPhone XS by @PanguTeam ! Bypass PAC mitigation on the new A12 chip. That’s amazing!!!

Presumably, the same process could be applied to the larger-screened iPhone XS Max to get the same root access as both platforms are built on top of the same chipset. It’s very possible that the team behind it simply doesn’t have access to Apple’s iPhone XS Max and therefore has been unable to prove the concept on that hardware.

The good news here is that Pangu has a pedigree as far as jailbreaking is concerned and has already proven that it is not only capable of pulling together all of the necessary components for a jailbreak. But that’s also willing and able to publish something into jailbreak community for the public to take advantage of it, theoretically.

Note: There are no guarantees that it will take this work and turn it into a genuine solution which will be released to the public sometime but it’s definitely an achievement the fact that Pangu has managed to successfully liberate Apple’s latest hardware on the latest firmware this fast.

As many expect, this will definitely not please Apple. iOS 12 was meant to be all about security and stability. While it turns into something tangible then this could be the quickest jailbreak that we=ve seen some to fruition for quite some time. As always, there is time to come out, we will keep an eye on its incoming and keep you updated if anything new developers. Stay tuned for more!

Sony Will Enable Fortnite Cross-Play For PS4 Vs Xbox & Switch

Sony finally backs down in a new policy change in enabling cross-play for Fortnite today. The PlayStation 4 console maker had been blocking cross-play and progression between Fortnite on PS4 and Nintendo Switch as well as Xbox One in recent times. This move angered Fortnite fans who couldn’t access progress, skins, and purchases on an Xbox One or Nintendo Switch if they’d played on a PS4. Now that Sony has given a statement saying that it is enabling cross-play for Fortnite fans.

John Kodera, Sony’s PlayStation chief says this during the interview:

“We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.”

In fact, in this situation, the chief also said “the first step will be an open beta beginning today for Fortnite that will allow for cross-platform gameplay, progression, and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems.

While the Epic team has said that it’s working on a better solution for those players who ended up creating a second account to get around the previous cross-play restrictions. And the solution for that should be available pretty soon.

“For players who created an extra account to play Fortnite on multiple console platforms, the team behind the title says are working on two things. First and foremost would be an account-merging feature in order to combine Battle Royale purchases, coming in November.

Enabling unlinking a console from one Fortnite account, and relinking to another Fortnite account is the second new thing to add. Coming in a few days.

Sony has previously blocked cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One for Fortnite, Rocket League, and Minecraft. Despite Nintendo and Microsoft supporting that same. Later, Microsoft and Nintendo both teamed up to promote cross-play in Minecraft in an unusual move.

Here. the policy change is major, according to Kodera, and Sony is now working towards fully supporting cross-play in Fortnite. Sony is opening a beta today to test its cross-play support and will look forward to opening up its platform in the future.

Meanwhile, this move could eventually signal more support of cross-play games on PS4, and either way it’s a major change for PC, PS4, and Xbox users to be able to play games against each other.

Following the initial release of iOS 12.1 beta 1 two weeks ago, developers now have access to the second pre-release seed of the firmware. It can be tested on all compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch hardware.

As we have already encountered with some issues and errors in the official iOS 12 final, though iOS 12.1 is Apple’s next step in the journey to make iOS 12 as perfect as it can be. The initial version was released into the testing community that introduced new features for certain device owners to sink their teeth into.

Especially, for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max owners who now have the ability to handle Depth Control live, directly in the Camera app. Next to look at the plans relating that bringing in FaceTime for up to 32 people with the final release of iOS 12.1.

Note: Apple has also brought a new Watch face in the Watch app to be used with a connected Apple Watch (Series 3 and S4).

In addition to the above, Apple has also been improving the platform by introducing bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements which are designed to stabilize the platform and eradicate any issues that were discovered after the launch of iOS 12.0 final.

iOS 12.1 Beta Includes Fix For Charging Issues On iPhone And iPad

Last month when Apple released the final version of iOS 12 it was reported that some iPhone and iPad owners faced charging issues, but it has now been said that the latest iOS 12.1 beta is all set to fix that issues, once iOS 12.1 released to the public.

Take a nice look at what actually caused the charging issues. The issue was cropping up for the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max mostly, but other iOS devices were seeing the problem as well. For those of you who weren’t aware of what was going on with “chargegate”, the affected iOS devices were not registering a connected Lightning cable, and thus not charging when the phone’s display was not on.

With today’s release of the iOS 12.1 beta 2, it has now been confirmed that the latest version of the pre-release seed will include a fix for that charging issue, according to iMore’s Rene Ritchie.

Note: It’s worth clarifying that this seemed like a minor issue across the board, with many iPhone and iPad owners not affected by it. Although there are millions of devices as well as small users can pretty much big. It appears that Apple has acknowledged the fact and working on fixing that issue and will have it out to the general public sooner rather than later.

However, we exactly don’t know or tipped iOS 12.1 launch date at this point, but we only know that the new software update will also come with more than 70+ new Emojis when it arrives later this year.

If your iOS device running into this chargegate issue? Stay tuned for more updates on this.

Future iPhones May Get Rid Of The Notch, Invisible Selfie Camera

$

There are several users who love the notch and some hate it, but also there’s no way to ignore the disturbing notch on top on the iPhone X and iPhone XS. Obviously, there is a reason why Apple decided to get rid of the notch in the upcoming iPhones next year.

However, Apple does its best to make the notch not so evident in its marketing materials for the iPhone XS but that does not change the fact that the devices still do come with a notch.

Notched devices like iPhones are temporary in nature until Apple gets around to figuring out a technology that allows it to place the front camera and IS sensor at the front of the device without a notch.

Right now, Largan Precision is doing the next best thing possible by developing a special invisible black coating for camera lenses. Usually, the selfie camera sensor is always visible in a notch but with this coating, Largan is hoping to change that. For now, this is the fact for upcoming iPhones, until OEMs find a better way to completely do away with the notch. This does seem like the best alternative solution to entirely hide the notch.

Also:

Largan Precision is not expected to start shipping this unique coating for camera lenses to customers by 2020 so there’s still a lot of time and a long wait here to witness.

By the way, Apple only offering the iPhone X and iPhone XS series with a black front as it hides the notch very well. Although when viewed from certain angles, the front-facing camera can be seen which Apple can get around to hiding with this new coating from Largan. The iDevice maker already sources its camera lenses from Precision and the technology could also become a favorite among many Chinese Android OEMs who have been launching smartphones with a waterdrop-notch design.

What do you say about the Notch RIP and invisible front camera sensor possibility?

LG V40 ThinQ Has 5 Cameras, Less Bloatware, Android Pie, Headphone Jack, More

$

The LG V40 ThinQ is the first phone went official that lets you take an ultra wide-angle shot or zoom in, as a whole, having three cameras on its back, and two on its front. The device announced today packs a lot of updates from last year’s V30, and there are probably a few details you’ve missed. Let’s take a look at it pretty closely.

Highlights

First and foremost, speaking about how LG is cutting down on bloatware, which is the most annoying things about buying an LG handset. But the LG V40 ThinQ makes a concerted effort to improve things a bit. Although its based on Oreo and having more or less the same interface, LG is clearing things up the bit. That’s mainly by removing duplicate applications and defaulting back to Google’s as reports point out.

Android 9.0 Pie coming soon

LG has opted to launch the V40 with Android 8.1 Oreo, and the fact that Pie has been out for quite some time now. Regardless, an update to Pie is apparently coming soon according to another report.

Battery life on the LG V40 ThinQ seems to be as good as reviewed. There’s a 3,300 mAh unit inside the phone which is small on paper, especially compared to the Note 9, and apparently, the results reflect that, as one example, notes the following for battery life.

Google Feed has also been added to the launcher. Along with the lessened bloatware, LG has integrated Google into its launcher. That’s something like on Pixel devices, a swipe to the left-most home screen brings up the Google Feed as several outlets have pointed out. On a related note, Assistant and Lens are both accessible from the dedicated side button just as they were on the LG G7 ThinQ.

Another thing you should make a note is that there are no plans for LG to ditch the headphone jack. The V40 ThinQ has the headphone jack which isn’t going anywhere.

Specs and Features

The main camera features a 12MP sensor with 1.4µm pixels, significantly larger than the 1.0µm pixels of the LG G7 and V35. It comes paired with a brighter f/1.4 lens and Optical Image Stabilization, so low-light performance should be much improved. This is the first LG camera to offer Dual Pixel autofocus.

From the 107° ultra wide lens, through the 78° main lens to the 45° telephoto lens, the new flagship covers 3x worth of optical zoom. The two cameras on the front of the LG V40 ThinQ allow you to take an all-encompassing shot or zoom in closer. The latter is handled by the 12MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 lens. The 16MP ultra wide-angle module has been borrowed from the G7.

All three cameras feature digital stabilization for video with HDR recording. The top video capture mode is 4K at 60fps and there’s still a 1080p at 240fps mode for cool slow-motion shots.

You can also take a photo with all three cameras, of course simultaneously with the Triple Shot feature, which will create a video or a GIF out of the three images. There’s a unique AI engine that helps you compose your shot. It recognizes people in the frame and will guide to a perfect “rule of thirds” composition.

The extremely alluded feature you will find in V40 ThinQ is its camera. With the 6.4-inch FullVision display, the V-series has regained its size advantage over the G-series. It’s a QHD+OLED panel with HDR10 support and 1 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Yes, it does have a notch on top.

Inside the hardware, is a dual selfie camera – 8MP (f/1.9, 80°) plus 5MP (f/2.4, 90°). These two come calibrated out of the factory and offer studio lighting portraits among other cool stuff.

The LG V40 ThinQ lives up with the full complement of IP68 rating and MIL-STD-810G certification. It’s lighter than the Galaxy Note 9 and iPhone XS Max, at 169g. It’s only a few grams more than the smaller G7 and it’s actually a tenth of a millimeter thinner than it.

LG still requires the wired headphones, because of the 32-bit QuadDAC provides a sonic boost that not all Bluetooth headphones can match. The phone also boasts a BoomBox speaker. Runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6GB of RAM. Has a storage internally of 64GB, and LG is keeping the microSD card slot alive.

The battery capacity is smaller, although the V40 ThinQ supports fast wireless charging, a first for LG. The wired option is QuickCharge 3.0. The color options you can choose from are Aurora Black (polished finish) and Moroccan Blue (sandblasted).

The LG V40 ThinQ will be available to purchase starting from October 18 and the price is $900. You can find more about the plans and cost right here.

A $450 LG Watch W7 Hybrid Wear OS Smartwatch Announced, Here Are The Details

Alongside the V40 ThinQ Android smartphone, LG has also announced its latest smartwatch today, the Watch W7. This wrist-wearable phone is the company’s most unique smartwatch yet because of its hybrid design, a mix of ambition and compromise. The W7 has mechanical hands in front of its round, 1.2-inch touch display running Wear OS.

Highlights

You can have either a feature-packed digital smartwatch or the classic beauty of an analog watch. But the LG Watch W7 aims to offer the best of both worlds. The Watch W7 feels like a pricey experiment, although has something in the mix to look forward.

On paper, LG’s Watch W7 should provide the first-class Wear OS experience and the longevity of a regular analog watch. In other words, the best of all wearable worlds. First of all, the basics. The W7 has a handsome stainless body that, looked relatively nice strapped to anyone’s wrist.

The LG Watch W7 marries Wear OS features to a classic analog watch movement with mechanical hands

The Watch W7 runs the latest version of Google’s Wear OS, has the improved notifications view and a smarter take on Google Assistant make the Watch W7 feel plenty valuable.

The LG’s new W7 smartwatch blends a touch display with mechanical hands. It’ll tell time for up to 100 days even after the battery dies. Android Wear is a big overhaul which now it needs some fancy new hardware to run on. It’s a fully fledged Wear OS watch with a 1.2” LCD touchscreen (360 x 360px). The W7’s mechanical hands give the watch more flexibility than a lot of its current rivals. And the hands of a watch mechanism that was developed in collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Soprod SA.

The smart side of things is handled by the fairly old Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip. It’s paired with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage. If you disable those smart features, the 240mAh battery can run the analog watch for 100 days.

Apple Will Sell A Clear Case For The iPhone XR [Reports]

Indeed, Apple has been selling its own silicon and leather iPhone cases and back covers for years now, but for the first time, it is said to reportedly sell a clear case with the release of the iPhone XR. This news comes via a Twitter account.

The newly announced iPhone XR will be available to purchase in six different colors, including Black, White, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Coral, which also makes sense that Cupertino-based company would want to sell transparent cases to show off the new designs.

This is clear case for the iPhone XR

Of course, the official announcement on its iPhone XR accessories has been missing from any US press materials, although a press release on Apple’s Canadian Newsroom shows that the clear case will go on sale for $55 CAD. The same clear case for iPhone XR is about $45 USD in the United States.

The aforementioned topic has been obtained by 9to5Mac and also shared a marketing image of the phone case, shown below.

As it is a transparent case cover, Apple’s silicon case sells for $39 in the US, and the transparent cases may sell for around that similar price. It sounds like a lot to pay for transparent plastic. Alternatively, Speck is also selling a clear iPhone XR case for $40, but its cases offer more protection with raised bezel guards.

While the iPhone XR owners may want to get their hands on an Apple-official clear case for the first time, when spending more money to buy it, one that doesn’t have third-party logos.

Unlike the iPhone 5C, which also comes in colorful backing, the iPhone XR has a glass back instead of plastic. So, it may be worth investing in a clear case if you really want to show off the color while also protecting your phone at the same time.

The case isn’t available online as yet, but it’ll most likely be available when the iPhone XR launches on October 26th. Apple hasn’t said any word on whether it’ll be released in the US, but again, we’ve reached out and will update when we hear anything new and catchy.

Samsung Says Its Foldable Galaxy X Phone Is Also A Tablet, Here Are The Details

Yes, we want a foldable phone which should also be a tablet that fits in your pocket, and Samsung doing the same with its Galaxy X. An official announcement for that has been suggested next month.

Samsung’s mobile head, DJ Koh, has apparently given us a first glimpse of what the company’s long-awaited foldable phone will be like to use. Speaking to CNET, the executive said that while unfolded the device will offer the functionality of a tablet complete with multi-tasking and a big screen, but can also be folded into a portable phone.

Samsung executive claims we'll have foldable phones by 2019

The description, however, matches a cringe-worthy concept trailer the company released back in 2013 which showed a device with one large internal screen combined with a second smaller screen on the outside for use when folded.

As per Koh’s previous suggestion that the handset could be unveiled at Samsung’s developer conference where he will be delivering the opening keynote on November 7th. The executive said it would have to reach his standards before it could eventually be announced.

”When we deliver a foldable phone, it has to be really meaningful to our customer,” Koh told CNET yesterday, “If the user experience is not up to my standard, I don’t want to deliver those kind of products.” Although he expected the hybrid device to initially find a niche market, he said that he believed it would expand, and that “we do need a foldable phone.”

If the user experience is not up to his standard, he doesn’t want to deliver that kind of products, he said.

There are other manufacturers stepping forward with their own efforts to produce a foldable smartphone. Huawei reportedly plans to release a foldable handset in limited quantities in 2019, whereas, Lenovo and Xiaomi have also teased their own prototypes. Finally, LG has also invested big in flexible displays, and later on, this year showed off a concept TV that rolled up into a box when not in use.

For now, it has been tipped that a developer conference seems like an odd venue for Samsung to announce a product that’s been anticipated for so many years. It suggests that we could see a prototype demonstrated, with the retail launch coming after developers have had time to optimize apps for the new displays.

With the tenth anniversary of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones coming next year, the time is certainly right for Samsung to unveil a cutting-edge design, alongside the Galaxy S10.

Download: Chrome 70 Released With Windows Web App Support, Option To Disable Controversial Login

As part of progressive Web app support for Windows, Google has released to download Chrome 70. The latest version of Google’s browser is now rolling out on Mac and Linux computers as well. Here are the details you need to know about.

Everything the Chrome update sees Google reverse some of the controversial changes it made with the last version, which Chrome allowed users to stop the browser from automatically signing into their Google account after logging into one of the search giant’s apps.

Progressive Web Apps, AV1, and the next stage in the fight against HTTP

From now onwards, Chrome 70 also brings support for Progressive Web Apps, or PWAs, on Windows. Of course, it’s rare to see a controversial version of a web browser, but Chrome 69 was exactly that Shortly after release, where people started to notice that the browser was unexpectedly signing into their Google accounts. This functionality actually stores your browser history, bookmarks, and passwords on Google’s servers when the Sync feature is turned on (which Google prompts users to do) is a big privacy factor for many.

Hidden within the settings menu of Chrome’s latest version is an option labeled “Allow Chrome sign-in,” which you can set to off if you’d rather not be automatically signed in to your Google account at the browser level.

Notably, this process is opt-out rather than opt-in, meaning all Chrome users will be automatically signed into Google’s browser and likely uploading their sync data unless they specifically change this setting. Google says that automatic sign-in was enabled to help make it clear when users are logged in on a shared device.

Also, Google has uploaded Chrome’s interface to more clearly explain what’s syncing, and has changed the way the browser clears cookies so that it’ll delete your Google service cookies along with everything else.

Outside of fixing Chrome 69’s controversial changes, the new update also introduced a couple of new features, where chief amongst them is support for Progressive Web Apps or PWAs on Windows. These are a simple way for companies to offer what appears to be a native Windows program using a web wrapper, rather than developing a separate desktop app for a service like Spotify. A PWA could instead give the service its own window without the interface bloat of an address bar or tabs, also allow it to be launched from the start menu or desktop.

Finally and officially, Chrome 70 download also brings support for a new video codec – AV1 – which is intended to succeed VP9 by offering much better compression. It allows users to restrict Chrome extensions’ host access to specific websites and moves Chrome along to the next phase of its fight against insecure websites.

For those Chrome users, your browser should prompt you to apply the update over the coming weeks. If you want to grab it right now then you can head on over to enter “chrome://settings/help” in the address bar and then force it to check for the update.

Spotify Is Testing ‘What’s New’ Timeline Feature To Promote New Music Releases

Spotify Music discovery is playing an important role in keeping tabs on new releases from artists you’ve already shown interest in. In fact, Spotify confirmed the test saying, “We are always testing new ways to create better-listening experiences for more users while continuing to find ways to connect artists to their fans.” Also, Spotify is testing a What’s new timeline feature with some users that shows new music streaming from artists you enjoy.

Now that the streaming service (aka Spotify) already has a way to address keeping tabs on new music thanks to its “Releaser Radar” playlist, and in part of that, the “Discover Weekly” playlist as well. All the way Spotify has been trying to get even better at promoting new releases recently, as it occasionally offers prompts once you open the app for new albums you may enjoy.

Notably, the finding new releases outside of playlists such as Discover Weekly and Release Radar can still be painful on Spotify, where it takes two taps to get to the new release page when you open the app. And further, it appears those releases aren’t well organized to your listening habits.

However, if new music isn’t picked up in either one of those playlists for your listening pleasure, then it can be kind of tough knowing when new music is dropping from artists you follow. Overall, things could be getting slightly better in the future, though.

According to a report on The Verge, Spotify which is currently testing a new “What’s New” timeline feature within the app. As the testing is currently out in to public right now, as folks over at Twitter have indicated, although there’s no indication on when the feature will hit the launch date to the general public.

It also appears Spotify has been running the test for quite some time. Spotify runs quite a few of these tests publicly, so there’s no guarantee this feature will make it to a full rollout, but again, it does seem to be an improvement on the status quo. It looks like it offers a quick way to jump into the new content, too, either by selecting the single or album itself or hitting that play icon to start listening.

Hopefully, Spotify does launch it at some point in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates!
