New Apple Patent Leak Confirms Face ID Like Tech For Mac Upcoming

$

The question here is will Apple put Face ID in Macs this year in 2018 models? So long as Face ID is popular, and it took longer time for Touch ID to come to Macs, and after some more time, a new Apple patent describes that could bring Face ID to Mac and others this year. Everything you are going to read reports and could not be accurate at all time.

Face ID on iPhone X has proven a bit hit amongst the users for the most part, and now we have confirmation that Apple is, or has at least considered bringing similar functionality to the Mac and of course, MacBook Pros.

Apple obtains patent that could bring FaceID to the Mac and MacBook

All of this topic reimagined in a note that Apple has recently had a patent profile granted that would bring Face ID or such technology to the Mac.

The patent appears was applied for before the iPhone X was launched, but its description does sound eerily similar to that of Face ID with a system described for automatically logging a Mac in when it is approached.

The patent describes how Macs in sleep mode could use their camera to look for faces. This would presumably be a feature added to Power Nap, where a sleeping Mac is still able to carry out certain background activities without using much power.

If your Mac spots a face, it then uses facial recognition to wake the Mac if the user is identified […] Essentially, the Mac can remain in sleep mode while doing the easy bit – just figuring out whether or not any face is in view – and then enter a higher powered mode to run the facial recognition part before fully waking the machine.

The original mention of facial recognition similar to the way Face ID works is one that is not made a big deal of in this particular patent, although simply stating that face detection could be employed in order to detect a user’s face.

As another example, the computer may apply a face detection algorithm at step 92 in order to detect the subject’s face of depth map.

As such patent was spotted earlier mentions gesture controls for the Mac, which is something that is also referenced in this new patent including the identification of “humanoid forms…, in a depth map.” The changes to those forms could then be used to initiate navigation throughout macOS, for instance.

Interestingly, it’s worth noting that an Apple patent does actually not a Mac feature make. In other words, this patent doesn’t mean we will see Face ID or gestures find their way into the Mac, but again, we can only toss at least the first one does at some point soon.

How To Run Windows 95 App On Mac, Windows 10 And Linux [Download First]

Today we have a good news saying that Windows 95 is now available as an app which can be downloaded and installed on macOS, Windows 10 and Linux at any time.

Actually, there are few redeeming features for Electron, which is the framework that many applications are now developed on, but one of them is this new development which otherwise, allows Windows 95 to be run as an app on Mac, Windows and even Linux.

Windows 95 in Electron is now an app

For those unfamiliar with Electron, is a framework used by many app developers as the best way of making their apps cross-platform without having to code bespoke apps. An electron version of Windows 95 is here now.

The Windows operating system that’s now used as a yardstick for what’s possible on modern devices and platforms. Windows 95 is one of that version 20 years ago made fans queue up for a boxed copy, was for many people the first desktop OS they used.

We have already seen Microsoft OS appear on the Apple Watch, an Android Wear smartwatch, and even the Xbox One. This time thanks to Slack developer Felix Rieseberg who is responsible for turning everyone’s favorite legacy operating system into something that can run almost anywhere. Slack, for example, is a prime instance of an app that is actually an Electron app. Available from Github, the new release sees Windows 95 effectively run as a single app on the Mac or PC, and not surprisingly the whole thing takes amazingly up less than 200MB of RAM once it is up and running.

You can:

Windows 95 in Electron is based on an existing web project that supports Windows 95, Windows 98, and a whole host of older operating systems. Now nostalgia lovers can play around with Windows 95 in an electron app. In order to test drive, the developer has published the source code and app installers for this project on Github, and apps like Wordpad, phone dialer, MS Paint, and Minesweeper all run like you’d expect.

Unfortunately, or sadly, Internet Explorer isn’t fully functional as it simply refuses to load pages, which is the only downside, although that’s perhaps to be expected given the fact the whole OS is running inside an Electron wrapper.

Being able to run Windows 95 is often a rite of passage for devices and it has been shoehorned ontop all manner of things from smart-wrist wearables to smartphones to game consoles and just about anything in-between.

The app in Electron is only 129MB in size and you can download it over at the given link for both macOS and Windows. Once it’s running it undoubtedly only takes up around 200MB of memory space, even when running all of the old 1990’s Windows 95 system utilities, apps, and games.

Now being able to run a version of Windows 95 on a computer just be downloading an app is something anyone can do, and it’s taking us right up Nostalgia Lane. If you run into any issues with the app you can always reset the Windows 95 instance inside the app and start over again.

To get started, simply head on over to the Electron project’s Github page here, and grab the relevant version of the app for your operating system. Enjoy this quirky trip down memory lane.

Serious Security Flaw In Fortnite’s Android Installer, As Google Shares Making Epic Games Unhappy

Today’s topic is about vulnerabilities and issues every app and game faces has now following along with how Epic Games is getting its creation of battle royale title into the hands of Android gamers. You will already know that it isn’t publishing it via the official Google Play Store but instead using its own delivery mechanism.

The process which means it will not have to hand over a portion of the game’s takings, but it also comes with its own problems. As Google confirms that a vulnerability in the Fortnite for Android installer allowed any application on a phone to then download and install anything it wanted. All in fact, in the background, without the user’s knowledge. That’s what tension reading.

Google apparently noticed the issue and told Epic Games about it back on August 15th, with the creator having now patched its software to prevent the issue from continuing. Again, Google is sharing the information publicly now, reminding us all gamers and players of Fortnite on Android of just how difficult it is to do things on the platform without accidentally opening the floodgates for all manner of nastiness. Particularly, if you try to bypass Google’s own store.

While the process of installing Fortnite on Android definitely involves downloading an installer, an app that then goes off and downloads the rest of the game directly from Epic. According to Google, the issue was that the installer itself was easily exploited, opening the doors to it hijacking the request to download the additional data and replacing it with one to download, well, anything.

Despite Google potentially saving it from the world of hacks, Epic Games couldn’t bring itself to be too graceful.

Epic genuinely appreciated Google’s effort to perform an in-depth security audit of Fortnite immediately following our release on Android, and share the results with Epic so we could speedily issue an update to fix the flaw they discovered.

However, it was irresponsible of Google to publicly disclose the technical details of the flaw so quickly, while many installations had not yet been updated and were still vulnerable.

An Epic security engineer, at my urging, requested Google delay public disclosure for the typical 90 days to allow time for the update to be more widely installed. Google refused. You can read it all at https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/112630336

Google’s security analysis efforts are appreciated and benefit the Android platform, however a company as powerful as Google should practice more responsible disclosure timing than this, and not endanger users in the course of its counter-PR efforts against Epic’s distribution of Fortnite outside of Google Play.

The good news here is that for this issue to really become a huge one, users would need to have an app installer that was capable to run or taking advantage of the Fortnite Android installer flaw, something that is pretty much unlikely as of right now. But the detail this was even possible in the first place should be a warning to any other developer contemplating going around the Play Store.

Google Shares Serious Security Flaw In Fortnite’s Android Installer

It’s your turn to decide whether to the literal way or flawless way before you go ahead and download Fortnite for Android installer on your protected platform. Deny or allow Fortnite installer to access your security features and unlock. Good luck!

The Next Apple’s iPhone Be Called Double X? References To ‘iPhone xx’ Found In Xcode 10

What could Apple’s next iPhone of 2018 to be called? Just weeks before an official announcement, digging into one of Apple’s products has once again discovered some previously unknown information. Here’s what Gui Rambo found, a reference to a currently unreleased device within Apple’s Xcode 10 app with the placeholder name of “iPhone xx.”

Well, we were expecting Apple release iPhone XL as this year’s new model, and no one is suggesting that Apple intends to release an iPhone 20 next month or call a device an iPhone Double X or even call it iPhone xx as the discovery suggests.

However, it’s quite clear now that this discovery is an interim placeholder in Xcode’s internal device list for a brand new iPhone which is as yet unnamed. At least publicly.

Speculations there referencing Apple to release three new models in 2018 and is extremely interesting to see what the marketing names of the units will be. And more genuinely, which devices this placeholder actually hint and why the other devices aren’t shown.

Actually, this discovery has been found in what looks to be the populated list of devices that describes which simulator version developers can run apps that are being built within Xcode 10; which, otherwise, is currently in beta alongside iOS 12 and macOS Mojave.

In fact, it shows internally in Xcode 10 as iPhone xx, there is little else that we know about the mystery device, other than it appears that it could ship with an A10 processor, which is the same chip used in Apple’s iPhone 7 models, previously.

Note: We also think that there won’t be iPhone 9, because iPhone X means it’s an iPhone 10 model, which could apparently mean Apple ditched iPhone 9 model, although it feels like it could potentially be introduced as a very entry-level and highly affordable LCD device for emerging markets, such as India, which Apple is keen to crack and capitalize on.

Based on what we think we know about Apple’s upcoming plans, it doesn’t feel like this iPhone xx unit is one of the three devices that we expect Apple introducing into the market.

While the cheaper variant of those three devices is expected to run an Apple A12 chip, come with a revamped iPhone X design, and have functionality like Face ID. It could be one reason iPhone xx brand anomaly showing up in Xcode 10 or be a reference to what is essentially a new iPhone 7-esque device which is cheaper to build and which will ultimately be aimed at emerging markets.

References To ‘iPhone xx’ Discovered In Xcode 10

Before you fall into this topic you have to note that this is only a reference shot found its place in Xcode 10, and in reality that could change before Apple’s new iPhone announcement date set for on September 12th. Stay tuned for more!

How To Unlock iPhone Locked On iOS 11.4.1 Using This R-SIM And ICCID Changing Trick

$

Here’s what we found is a new discovery that made in Apple’s iOS platform which allows any locked device to be factory unlocked to any network by using an R-SIM and directly modifying the ICCID. So that the device will continue to work, that too, without the R-SIM, using any network’s SIM card.

For those iPhone and iPad owners there’s a hearing about iOS vulnerabilities but are also used to them being discovered by security researchers and used for the purposes of trying to find a route into the device for jailbreak purposes.

At least in the modern world of iOS, we have something like this discovery that is uniquely related to unlocking the device and ensuring that a factory unlocked iPhone can be used on any network without having to request Apple or the locked carrier to interject. With the right too, although with the right process, it can be done and that’s exactly what we appear to how you. Best of all, it doesn’t require the jailbreak to work.

The process definitely appears to be as follows, flawless. There’s a chance that Apple might patch this in future but as of right now, it’s working as intended:

Note: You will definitely need R-SIM for this first to work. You can get it from here.

1. Insert an unsupported SIM with the R-SIM into a locked iPhone
2. Launch Phone app and type *5005*7672*99# and then tap edit ICCID
3. Type 8901-4104-2778-0604-3133
4. Restart the device and follow the setup
5. Once back at Home screen, remove the R-SIM and simply use the previously unsupported SIM card

And there! You have it. By changing the ICCID, it leverages a vulnerability that unlocks the device for use with any SIM card. It is also being pointed out that this isn’t entirely permanent and will be put back to being a factory locked device if a hard reboot or reset is performance accidentally, or else on the device.

However, the final words speak loud. You can go through the process of an over-the-air (OTA) firmware update without the unlock being taken aware. So, if you do a full restore through iTunes, then the unlock is removed and the hard work is undone completely.

If you have a device that needs unlocking, then this would definitely worth giving a try.

Apple developers can now download iOS 12 beta 11 IPSW links and OTA update for testing on their compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. This comes in a surprising manner. Here are the details on it.

With this move, it seems like Apple will seed another pre-release of iOS 12 in the next week before Golden Master arrival. This is the third one of iOS 12 pre-release build Apple seeded in a week’s time and is also the first time the company has released eleven betas for a major version of iOS.

In fact, this is the eleventh pre-release iOS 12 seed arrived in the last week of August with new iPhones and final version of iOS 12 set for launch next month. It is very likely that this is very last seed of iOS 12 before GM release on iPhone launch event day (September 12th), and final version release a week later than that.

Those registered developers are able to download iOS 12 beta 11 as an IPSW file directly from developer.apple.com, or as an OTA update if you already have a previous version of beta installed by going into Settings > General > Software Update section of the device itself and then updating from there.

Update x1: Along with iOS 12 beta 11 for developers, Apple has also released tvOS 12 beta 9 and macOS 10.14 Mojave beta 9 to testers.

Update x2: iOS 12 Public Beta 9 is out as well for those part of Apple Beta Software Program.

Update x3: You can check out the complete iOS 12 beta 11 release notes from Apple here: Here’s iOS 12 Beta 11 Release Notes And Changelog Details In Full.

iOS 12 Beta 11 Complete Release Notes From Apple, Here Are The Details

Today is the day when Apple has released its eleventh iOS 12 beta for compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch device developers, continuing its weekly barrage ahead of an expected public release in late-September.

To say that Apple is in full flush with the release of iOS 12 betas and the new update is available to download for all registered Apple developers right now. Alongside the eleventh pre-release seed for iOS 12, Apple also released Public Beta 9 for testers, that’s assuming we don’t have a repeat of the iOS 12 beta 7 farce which saw the update pulled shortly after release.

Given the fact that we don’t have any similar issues this time around, it should eventually be safe for developers to update without delay. If you do so can get right down to the important business of making sure that their apps and games all work as they should, which is no mean feat in update session.

Apple already has shared the release notes for iOS 12 beta 11 and you can check them out below.

From reading the official release notes it appears to be the usual array of fixes and, most importantly, new issues to be noted. One thing that does jump out to us is a line which would suggest that localization for iOS 12 is now complete. With another note saying that an issue relating to incorrect languages being displayed is now fixed.

Apart from that, one issue that might be of note to anyone who installs iOS 12 beta 11 on their live device is that Apple Pay may become unavailable. If this happens Apple’s suggested workaround is to simply try again, and if that doesn’t work to restart the device completely.

As we are heading towards the final release of iOS 12, almost anything can happen with a beta release installed. Expect issues here and there and while we’re still hurtling, though.

To those unknown about the fact: iOS 12 Beta compatibility list, the 64-bit phones, tablets and semi-tablet series are all be supported by iOS 12 beta installation.

It is important to note that before going ahead with installing iOS 12 betas on your device is that it is a very early beta of iOS 12 which otherwise is prone to bugs and issues, hence isn’t really advisable to install on primary devices. We only recommend installing iOS 12 betas on a test device.

It’s also highly advised that you make a complete full backup of your device, either using iTunes or to iCloud, before booting iOS 12 beta on it.

How to download and install iOS 12 Beta 11:

Step 1: First and foremost, you can go ahead and download iOS 12 beta, you need to have an enrolled Apple Developer Program account, or do it at https://developer.apple.com/programs/. If you are already registered on it, simply skip Step 2.

Step 2: Login to Account section of ADP using your Apple ID: https://developer.apple.com/account/.

Step 3: Now you will need to register your UDID with Apple for the iOS device you want to install the beta on. To find the UDID of your device, simply plug your device into iTunes, select it, and then click on the serial number for it to show the UDID as shown below in the screenshot. Then copy this number using CTRL+C on Windows, or command+C on Mac.

Step 4: You will now find the main Account section of the page. Click on Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles.

From the Devices section found in the left panel, click on All.

Going to the right-hand panel, click on “+“, and then add the UDID of your iOS device.

Right from here, select your device from drop down to begin downloading the required iTunes restorable iOS 12 beta firmware file.

Alternatively, you can also choose to install iOS 12 beta using over-the-air update method, which is an official solution for developers and not non-developers like us. For that, open the same download page as mentioned above directly on your iOS device, then clicking on ‘Download‘ under iOS 12 Beta and alongside Configuration Profile, and then allow it to install on your iOS device (requires a restart). Once the profile is set, head to General > Settings > Software Update on your device and wait few seconds for iOS 12 beta OTA update to show. Once it appears, tap on Download and Install to get onto the firmware version.

How To Install iOS 12 Beta 11 OTA Update Without Developer Account

You can now download iOS 12 beta 11 Configuration Profile installed without having a registered UDID or developer account on Apple Developer Program portal. Here’s how?

By now you all know that Apple has officially pushed iOS 12 beta 11 out into the development community. That release means all registered members can get their hands on the initial pre-release seed of iOS 12 right now.

Anyone who doesn’t have access to a developer account, or who don’t have their device UDID registered with Apple, can also get access to it without having to wait for Apple to push the update for public testers to Apple Beta Software Program later this month. This is a specific process that you need to understand right away.

This installation method involves the conjunction of a verified Apple Configuration Profile that triggers an OTA update to the beta firmware. Fair things to do before any and all beta build installations, backup your device to iCloud or iTunes before starting. And also. Make sure you have secured your data in case something goes wrong in any matter or you decide to go for a fresh restore later on.

This official confirmation means that Apple can finally drop support for a number of devices leaving the final list of supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to 64-bit hardware only. Check if your device is compatible with iOS 12 installation:

iPhone

  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 5s

iPad

  • iPad (9.7-inch)
  • iPad Pro (9.7-inch)
  • iPad Pro (12.9-inch)
  • 2017 iPad Pro (12.9-inch)
  • 2017 iPad Pro (10.5-inch)
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad mini 3
  • iPad mini 2
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad Air

iPod touch

  • iPod touch 6th generation

That’s what you need to do right now.

Step 1: On your iOS device you want to run iOS 12 beta 11 (I used iPhone SE), launch Safari, and open this downloadable link: ufile.io/ntrih

Step 2: You should notice that there is the download button. Tap on that to begin the process of downloading the iOS beta configuration profile file to your iPhone or iPad. Once when prompted about a device you would like to install the profile on, select “iPhone.”

iOS-10-beta-1-OTA-profile
Step 3: You will now be taken to an Install Profile screen. Select Install in the top corner to perform the installation. Once that’s done completely, your device will automatically reboot itself. This is expected and a normal behavior of the procedure. If it doesn’t automatically reboot, make sure you manually do a reboot.

Step 4: After reboot, your device will regain control, launch the native Settings app and navigate to General > Software Update. Now, thanks to the fact that you have just installed an active beta configuration profile, the system should display iOS 12 beta 9 as an available download & Install (OTA) firmware update.

Step 5: You can simply select the button at the bottom of that view to initiating the process. Sit back having a coffee on hand, and wait for that iOS 12 goodness to be installed on your device.

Remember, once the process has completed and the device has rebooted back to the lock screen, you will be running the initial beta version of iOS 12 build, so make sure that you put it through its paces and test everything that Apple has introduced during the opening WWDC keynote. Happy testing!

Kodi 18 Leia Beta 1 Download Links Are Here, Try Out Now

Kodi team has made their decision in making the most loved media center apps around and thanks to their continuing development. Kodi v18 Leia has been working its way through the alpha channels for some time now and has the team confirmed that the first beta build is available for prime time.

According to the announcement post, the beta stage will allow the developers focus on “solving bugs and possible usability problems” although it is also noted that so far “it has been provided to be quite solid to use as a daily driver for those who were involved enough to try it out.”

Obviously, this should give those willing to try the beta out a little-added confidence that no show-stopping bugs will crop up. But as always, it’s also worth mentioning that this is indeed a beta for a reason.

In general the whole stability has been improved quite a lot. The times you still get glitches or occasional crashes have been reduced due to just ripping out not so well coded parts and replaced with a more structured design and standard. Not that the old code was bad however over time new insights were gained and having newer code standards just make it better. Untangling all parts or components and make them behave better next to each other has been one of the biggest efforts done so far.

If the news of a new beta release wasn’t great enough, we now have a new v18 Leia T-shirt to order with four different designs ready for those who want to support the Kodi project and get something that we suspect most people won’t win.

Apart from the current beta, there were no definitive timescales offered as to when to expect Kodi v18 Leia to go into a full release. Although it all likely depends on the outcome of this initial beta release once more and users start using it.

Reminder, if you do encounter any issues, be sure to report them directly so that any and all bugs can be ironed out before the big launch.

Beyond that, Kodi v18 Leia beta 1 for Android (APK), Windows, iOS (IPA) Linux and more platforms can be downloaded from kodi.tv/download section.

For the first time ever, Microsoft has made available to purchase the ‘Robot White’ Xbox One Elite Wireless controller, along with a new white Turtle Beach headset. Going into detailing, we have something special to say about both packages right below.

Microsoft has announced the Xbox One X Robot White Special Edition Fallout 76 Bundle which will feature the first white, especially “Robot White.” Xbox One X will come in the box with a digital download of Fallout 76 and a white Xbox One controller.

White Xbox One X Fallout 76 Bundle Announced, Plus White Elite Controller And Headset

The two new pieces Xbox One hardware are going to be very popular indeed. Kicking things off is a new white version of the impressive Xbox One Elite Controller, making this the first time that such a colorway has been available. Also, alongside a new white Xbox One X bundle as part of this Fall’s Fallout 76 launch.

Highlights

Let’s start with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – White special edition that is a white redesign of 2015’s black Elite Controller that we expected “is a near=perfect game controller with a price-tag that’s hard to swallow.” This controller is compatible with all Xbox One consoles, Windows 10 PCs, and tablets. The new offering isn’t mechanically any different to the black variant, although there’s something about this white version that has us wanting to ditch the old one in a heartbeat, which we can’t quite put our finger on what that is.

Get it early? Microsoft unveils new Xbox Elite controller in robot white

That being said, pre-orders for the new wireless controller are live now and should be available on October 16, 2018, for $149.99 USD, also exclusively at GameStop and the Microsoft Store. We can’t wait to see this thing shipping, complete with its Hair Trigger Locks and all of the customizations we have come to detect from the Xbox One Elite Wireless controllers.

Fallout 76 bundle with white Xbox One X up for preorder now

Moving on to the next level of the announcement. As we have the equally white Xbox One X Fallout 76 bundle. Costing $499.99, when it goes on sale this November 14th. The package also comes with a digital download code for Fallout 76 and informatively, the whole thing looks stunning in white. Though – it’s a Robot White Xbox One X model.

Lastly, the Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 + SuperAmp Pro Performance Gaming Audio System for Xbox One has also been introduced. This will arrive in white usually with a “metal headband with a suspended pad, ProSpecs glasses friendly design, and upgraded AeroFit memory foam ear cushions with athletic fabric and synthetic leather.”

How about the new Turtle Beach Elite headset will be priced? Well, the headset you’re going to need will be released on September 16th, 2018, in North America for $249.99 USD and the new bundle won’t make its way to Europe until October 8, 2018. That’s a shame, but the wait may well be worth it.

Finally, these new hardware announcements follow the multiple new Xbox One bundles and accessories that were announced at Gamescom, including the Gold Rush Battlefield V Xbox One X bundle and the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Limited Edition Controller.

With the announcement of AirPort Express firmware release today, there is no doubt that the Apple’s router isn’t dead. But the fact here to discuss is Apple only stopped selling AirPort products and not completely RIP the solution.

The Cupertino-based company is still updating the firmware of AirPort Express, and today, it sees a significant one as it adds support for AirPlay 2 and the Home app. In other words, you can now plug speakers into a dusty AirPort Express and turn them into wireless speakers for your home sound system.

AirPort Express Gets AirPlay 2 And Home App Support

In some reports, it was confirmed that Apple has officially killed off its AirPort wireless hardware but with today’s firmware update it is once again clarified that it hasn’t stopped it from adding new features to parts of the lineup.

As in this case, the AirPort Express received a firmware update, taking it to version 7.8, which is interesting. In addition of a headline new feature that will garner the most attention – would be – the support for AirPlay 2 and Apple’s Home app – as part of the update.

For those unfamiliar with that, the AirPort Express was a pretty basic home router, which hasn’t been updated since 2012. meaning that it’s nowhere near a performant as today’s cheap router. It only supports 802.11n while everybody has moved on to 802.11ac.

The Apple’s wireless router called AirPort Express has an access point which has a built-in AUX port that can be used to connect a speaker via line-in. Its Ethernet ports are limited to 100Mbps, so if you have fiber internet, the AirPort Express is not a good solution as it caps your internet connection to 100Mbps.

As previously mentioned that the AirPort Express has an audio jack, something that you can’t find in many Apple products these days. With today’s update makes this AUX relevant again, as it’s a cheap way to get started with AirPlay 2. It has allowed giving a better way get AirPlay 2 support to speakers over the years, and now the AirPlay 2 is supported that looks set to be continued along with the additional features afforded by the updated protocol.

With the support of AirPlay 2 on-board, the AirPort Express can now converse with Apple’s Home app, just like a HomePod or other AirPlay 2-compatible speaker such as the Sonos devices that received similar updates recently, as well as Apple TV. The update itself can be installed via the AirPort Utility app on either iOS or macOS and is something we suggest everyone installs without delay.

You can launch the Home app and add the router as a new Home accessory, too. After installation and full setup, you’ll find the AirPort Express in your AirPlay speaker list. So, along with support for Home, AirPplay 2 support also gives the AirPort Express improved audio performance thanks to lower latency as well as multi-room playback. In order to take full official advantage of AirPlay 2 users will need to have iOS 11.4.1 or later installed on their iOS devices.

Once again, follow along to learn how…

How To Use AirPort Express For AirPlay 2 with Existing Router – Steps

  1. Plug the AirPort Express into the wall and wait until it boots up.
  2. Go into your Wi-Fi settings on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and join the new AirPort network.
  3. Click on the Other Options button.
  4. Select “Add to an existing network.”
  5. Choose your existing Wi-Fi network name from the list. Enter the password.

All things different and interesting in getting AirPort Express for the sole purpose of turning your existing speaker system into an AirPlay 2-compatible speaker system as a whole. You can get AirPort Express from here as Apple no longer sells them.

After several speculations and somewhat predictions, Apple has finally issued official invites to its 2018 iPhones launch event on September 12. Also given the keynote a name as ‘Gather Round’, but what exactly the title means is in question. Is it a light flash lens or an Apple Watch with round dial is to be seen.

However, It’s finally official with invites landing in the inboxes of invited delegates, right now! For those who have been waiting for these to land in order to find out about the particulars of this year’s iPhone event, let us jump straight into the important elements of the media event.

The 2018 iPhone Keynote event take place on September 12, 2018, at 10 AM Pacific Time (PT)

The invites tagline ‘Gather Round’ released today likely referencing the main ring-shaped building at Apple Park. The media invites sent out today for its annual iPhone-centric event that will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park Campus in Cupertino, California.

Here’s a first look at the theme of the event, where you and all can see a lot of product refreshes that we could and everyone see at the fall 2018 event live. First and foremost, Apple is expected to be introducing three iPhones this year: a second-generation 5.8-inch OLED device, a larger-screened 6.5-inch OLED iPhone XS device, and a lower-cost 6.1-inch iPhone XL smartphone with an LCD display.

Like last year’s event, the 2018 iPhone announcement will be held at the same theater within the Apple Park campus, which will be made at this year’s event are largely unknown. In fact, we first get the Golden Master seeds of iOS 12, macOS 10.14 Mojave, tvOS 12 GM and watchOS 5, too.

Of course, the CEO of Apple Tim Cook and his teammates will talk about Apple’s performance and business. Then, there may be blanks in what will be announced but what? Well, we don’t exactly know that the event will stir up excitement and wonder from a smartphone community which sits patiently waiting to see what Apple’s next move is and to determine whether or not the 2018 iPhone range will be significant in setting the bar for other companies to aspire to in the next 12 months.

Information, we have until today, is only a matter of time. In terms of overall expectations, developers expect a slew of GM seeds to be released for the aforementioned platforms. The public, analysts, as well as investors, expect Apple to announce three new iPhone models, two of which will be OLED-based lineup and one of which will be a cheaper variant because of the LCD screen.

All three models should eventually come with an iPhone X-esque design language. The trio line of iPhones of 2018 is expected to feature upgraded A12 processors, faster LTE, edge-to-edge displays, and Face ID integration. With Apple doing away with the Home button for its entire 2018 iPhone lineup.

Apple Invites Media to September 12 Event at Apple Park: 'Gather Round'

For pricing, only rumored like this. Apple’s low-cost iPhone, which could cost around $700, and is expected to use an aluminum frame and a single-lens camera, keeping the price low. The two OLED iPhones, which could go beyond expectations – between $800 and $1,000, will also use stainless steel frames with dual-lens cameras.

Not only new iPhones, but Apple expecting to introduce the fourth-generation Apple Watch smartwatches in for good measures. Now that the invites are out. The crowds will soon be waiting. It’s time to see what 2018 has in store for the future Apple’s iPhone series. Stay tuned for more.

Apple Invites Sent Out For Keynote Event On September 12 Could Announce Apple Watch 4

Alongside the 2018 iPhones, Apple is also planning to announce its next-generation wearable (aka Apple Watch 4 or Series 4) at the Apple Park Campus in Cup[ertino, California. Here are the details on it.

The invites sent out by Apple taglined ‘Gather Round’, which references a circle-shaped element that is unknown for now, but Apple will definitely discuss it at the live streaming event on the given date.

Leaked Apple Watch Series 4 image reveals bigger display, new complications

Along with fresh iPhones, Apple is expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 4, which is said to feature a larger display likely implemented through a reduction in bezel size. Longer battery life and improved health monitoring capabilities are also rumored, but beyond that, we don’t exactly know much about the new wrist-worn devices.

At the ongoing event, we can also expect to see the glimpse of new iPad Pro models with Face ID, slimmer bezels, and no Home button are in the works, altogether. Are refreshed MacBook Air and Macs that include a low-cost MacBook and a new Mac mini, but it is not clear if these products will come at the September event. Could be held in another event, maybe in October.

Rumors of a new rounded watch face appear to have been wide of the mark if the leaked image is anything to go by. A new, larger but still square profile will definitely be used this time around with the reduction in bezels for a roughly 15% larger display.

Apple Watch Series 4 revealed — massive display, dense watch face, more

Otherwise, the overall look of the watch appears very similar, however, although the Side button and Digital Crown do appear slightly redesigned. One of which shows more information on a single screen with complications galore likely due to more screen space thanks to the edge-to-edge display. The only thing (watch face) has been leaked today, but we would imagine that others have also received a facelift to accommodate the new, large screen.

Apple’s iPhone XS: The Next-Generation 2018 iPhone Leaked In Full, Here’s What It Look Like

You already know that Apple issued invites for its ‘Gather Round’ keynote event held at its Campus on September 12, 2018. The press is all set to stream live at this year’s 2018 iPhones event on that given date, but what we have today is the leaked image of the new iPhone in full clarity.

The folks over at 9to5Mac have been able to get their hands on the new images that show three of the pieces of hardware we can expect on September event.

Leaked

Exclusively, the images appear to be press renders of the unannounced iPhone XS (pronounced iPhone 10 S) in both 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED screen sizes as well as what we expect to be called the next wearable, the Apple Watch Series 4.

Starting with the newly leaked picture of the new iPhones, Apple’s 2018 lineup looks set to consist of 6.1-inch LED-equipped iPhone 9 (not pictured here), although along with two iPhone XS-branded OLED handsets.

Those OLED-based iPhones of 2018 can be seen in the image below. Highlights the size differences between them both. It’s also looking increasingly likely that we will see a new Gold color option, if possible, just as can be seen in the images with a black front, shiny stainless steel gold frame, and golden back in the invites too, taglined ‘Gather Round’.

If this is ‘iPhone XS’, then here is its design, which is somewhat larger Plus-sized display version and also having a gold color confirmed for its purchase. The image definitely looks like that Apple would produce, and the phone is positioned at the same angle that Apple often uses for iPhone marketing assets.

Again said, this is not a mockup or fan render; it appears to be a legitimate image of the new phones direct from Apple. We also believe iPhone XS will come in a new gold color version not previously offered on the new design. Apple leaked its own gold version of the iPhone X through the FCC, but it has not been available to purchase.

Other details are still in the box, which is not yet determined, though, we can report with certainty that iPhone SX will be the name, the OLED model will come in two sizes including a larger version, and each will be offered in gold for the first time ever.

The LCD iPhone with 6.1-inch screen will share the overall design of these, but with an aluminum frame instead of the stainless steel on the iPhone X and now the iPhone XS.

Apple will officially unveil the iPhone XS next month on September 12 and likely release both before the end of September. Shipping dates will be revealed in a few weeks. Stay tuned for more.

Apple Acquires AR Glasses Startup Akonia Holographics [Details]

Glasses which are not solar eclipse glasses or eyeglasses Apple is looking at, rather put its effort in producing AR Glasses, has today announced that it has bought a company that makes lenses for AR smart glasses. Here are the details on its acquisition.

First of all, Apple has acquired a company that specializes in building lenses for smart glasses that can eventually display augmented reality images overtop the real world. The company purchased by Apple is Akonia Holographics, which is a startup.

Apple has picked up a startup that makes lenses for augmented reality glasses, lending more credence to rumors

This is now owned by Apple and advertises its wares as “the world’s first commercially available volume holographic reflective and waveguide optics for transparent display elements in smart glasses.” Although that sounds exactly like the kind of technology Apple would be interested in if it was indeed looking to create its own headset.

Apple Acquisition Of Akonia Holographics For Its AR Tech – Highlights

Akonia describes its augmented reality lenses as “thin,” “transparent,” and capable of displaying “vibrant, full-color, wide field-of-view images.” The same company was targeting a 60-degree field of view two years ago, which is small and less than most virtual reality headsets. But nevertheless, the company has also described its lens in a way that suggested it offered higher-resolution images than its competitors without putting as many visual obstacles between an eye and a real world.

It’s now official, Apple confirmed the acquisition to Reuters in its usual manner of not detailing why it bought the company. While “Apple buys smaller companies from time to time, and we generally don’t ever discuss our purpose or plans” may not tell us anything, sources speaking with Reuters have also suggested that Akonia Holographics was “very quiet” over the past six months, which could suggest a deal has been in place for a long while at this point.

Otherwise, Apple has been moving quickly on developing augmented reality tech – you can already see it at work inside the iPhone and the company is said to also be working on an augmented reality headset. With that said, Apple has been working on various prototype headsets according to leaks and Bloomberg which have appeared semi-recently with a launch penciled in for 2019 or 2020.

Apple extensively works with augmented reality as part of the iPhone and iPad and continues to push what iOS is capable of while giving tips to developers more tools with which to work. In fact, the current CEO Tim Cook has publicly been very bullish on AR, calling it “a big idea, like the smartphone,” meaning it’s something that everyone will one day end up using. “I think AR is that big, it’s huge,” he said.

A demo of Apple’s ARKit augmented reality framework

The inclusion of a headset of sorts, however, could push this even further, although costs and the sheer size such a headset could prove troublesome for the market. Where the Cupertino-based company Apple’s AR tech has been developing fast for what’s currently just one of many features on the iOS devices. It’s capable of locking virtual objects in place, scaling them as you move around the room, and even letting users interact with them and play PUBG or Fortnite games, etc.

For now, it’s unclear that Apple is putting the tech in place for some much bigger purpose down the road. Stay tuned for more updates right here at TechGiri.

Apple Watch Series 4 Leaked Gesture Revealed Massive Display, Dense Watch Face, More

As we already received a glimpse on iPhone XS details, we are today going to share something about the exclusive first look at the new Apple Watch. This year’s wrist-worn gadget from Apple to call it Apple Watch Series 4, and we believe it will be announced at its special ‘Gather Round‘ 2018 iPhones keynote event.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is going to take the wearable mainstream

Highlights: Apple Watch Series 4 Is Here To Check Out

If this news becomes true and accurate, then we all are going to witness the launch of the refreshed Apple Watch. Where the biggest change is the all-new design, edge-to-edge display, which Apple has been rumored to be working on 15% bigger displays for both sizes of the new Apple Watch. So that rumor has now been confirmed in the leaked images we’ve discovered. Not exactly by us, rather 9to5Mac.

As expected, Apple seems to have been achieved this by dramatically reducing the bezel size around the watch display. In addition to the edge-to-edge display, we’re also looking forward at a brand new watch face capable of showing way more information than the current faces offered.

While the analog watch face of the leaked Apple Watch 4 shows a total of eight complications around the time and within the clock hands. Thus, we haven’t yet seen a new digital face though, but it’s likely that Apple has designed more new watch faces to take advantage of the larger display.

Apple Watch Series 4 Tops Apple Watch 3 Face

Also seen in the image above, is a new hole between the side button and Digital Crown, likely an additional microphone, and compatibility with what appears to be current watch brands. Both the Crown and side button appear modified from the current Apple watch models as well.

Again saying, for another look at it and to learn more about what will likely be called the Apple Watch Series 4, can be had on September 12 when Apple and its executive team wraps off its new hardware lineup. Stay tuned for much more updated news.

Twitter Testing Threaded Reply Interface & Status Indicators Features For Users Convenience

After expanding its major API changes to kill trending and popular third-party app features, Twitter is turning to new feature-rich first-party applications. In this post, we are going to discuss on what Twitter and why it is planning to take advantage of its native apps rather killing third-party apps.

Twitter, in fact, is going forward to start working on new features on a regular basis, especially as more individuals start using Twitter’s own apps. About this, Jack Dorsey wrote in a tweet this week that Twitter search for testing two new features: presence and threading conversations.

First to talk about presence. A feature that Dorsey says would allow Twitter users to see who else is online at any given moment. Think of the online presence status indicators on Facebook Messenger, which shows a green dot when a user is actively available.

with the color scheme in place.

While the second new feature is threading, which gives a new look to Twitter’s reply system. Currently, in the Twitter application, you can see all main replies to a tweet you published and subsequently tap through to view individual threads and replies. With this new reply threading feature also called as threaded conversations feature, however, replies appear with more of a messaging-style interface.

So, as such, it’s not too surprising to see that the platform is starting to test a new way to make conversations a little easier to read. One way to do that? Threaded Conversations.

Here’s the original tweet:

Sarah Haider, Twitter’s head and director of Product Management, has recently published a couple of photos on to the platform, showing off new features and saying the micro-blogging company is indeed in the process of testing it. As the images reveal, the threaded conversation style does actually make reading each input a bit simpler, especially with the color scheme in place.

Continuing the statement, Haider responded to those concerns that Twitter “would definitely want you all to have full control over sharing your presence.” This somewhat implies the feature would be opt-in (or at least offer the ability to easily opt-out).

In my opinion, as I am not a big fan of these features. The reply threading feature isn’t that much necessarily awful, but it looks a bit cluttered and dated in its current form. Although it’s unclear when or if these features will roll out to everyone.

What do you think of these potential additions?

Samsung To Tease Foldable Galaxy X Just After The Release Of iPhone XS Next Week

We have been hearing rumors on Samsung’s Galaxy X – an always-on display featuring foldable smartphone, which today has given or tipped something about its unusual launch details. The world is waiting for Apple’s next and 2018 iPhones release, which is taking place on September 12 at Apple Park. So why Samsung getting ready to upstage the Cupertino company by taking the wraps off of its own device. Here are the details.

At the center of many rumors over the last year or so, the Galaxy X would be the Samsung’s first attempt at a foldable smartphone. It is something that has been confirmed to be in the works by South Korean firm’s mobile division head DJ Koh, although Samsung release schedules are hard to come by.

Samsung executive claims we'll have foldable phones by 2019

The same man, however, also told CNBC that Samsung may be readying to show off a foldable phone at its Samsung Developer Conference in November – just weeks after Apple’s new iPhones arrive and go on sale.

He also said previously that the Galaxy X could be ready for retail as soon as the end of this year, 2018. Although 2019 is more and more likely, no firm release window has ever been given for the device until now. Even Samsung does show it off in November there is no suggestion that the debut will be closely followed by a public release of a device that will certainly have tongues wagging.

Indeed, the Galaxy X has been a secret one, and what we know this far as it has a foldable screen, that when closed, will produce a smartphone that is thicker than a standard flagship like the iPhone X or Galaxy S9. Opened up, the same device is said to seem like a small tablet in stature, making it perfect for watching media, streaming videos, or reading books – all depending on what exactly the situation is with that screen.

(Image: Samsung develops flexible OLED display)

The highlights for the Samsung’s foldable device, named Galaxy X. Making everything work – as users would suspect – is something Samsung continues to focus on, including making sure there is definitely a market for this thing. Thinking Big?

Apple has already sent out press invites for its ‘Gather Round’ 2018 iPhones keynote event to announce (maybe iPhone XS) on 12th of September with a new Apple Watch likely to arrive alongside it as Apple Watch Series 4. Stay tuned!
